Electrolyte is an ionic compound that dissolves in water and is capable of producing electricity.

Body fluid is primarily water and electrolyte. Electrolytes are vital to the body because>>>>>>>>>>

·         They are essential for muscle and nerve functioning

·          Exert osmotic pressure, keeping body fluid in their own compartment

·         Functions in acid-base, as buffers to resist PH charges in body fluid etc.

Electrolytes are present in the body system but  mainly come from both ingested foods and gastro-intestinal secretions.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

In the body, electrolyte includes Sodium (Na+), Potassium(K+), Calcium(Ca+).

>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<The concentration of electrolyte in the body is controlled by a variety of hormones, most of which are manufactured in the kidney and the adrenal grand.

Sometimes there are changes in the concentration of electrolyte In the body due to the water content.
