Castor oil for removing dandruff..

Castor oil has some antibacterial and antiviral properties that helps remove dandruff. Ricinoleic acid, one of main constituents of castor oil is a powerful antifungal agent. The oil’s natural antiviral and antimicrobial properties make it a popular treatment for skin problems known as dermatosis and fungal infections. Another ingredient present in the oil is ricin which also have has germicidal and fungicidal properties that protect the scalp from microbial and fungal infections leading to dandruff and other infections of the scalp. Castor oil is an excellent emollient and humectant which helps to lock moisture into the skin and hair to keep it soft and smooth, hence is regarded as excellent hair conditioner. The oil also has other beneficial constituents such as minerals, omega- 6 fatty acids and vitamin E which also are regarded as good moisturizers. The moisturizing properties of nutrients can help in fighting dry flakes and dandruff.
