Mouth ulcers are also a possible symptom of a viral infection that mainly affects young children. Mouth ulcers don’t usually need to be treatment. The exact cause of most mouth ulcers is unknown. Mouth ulcer can be caused by biting the cheek or tongue, or by sharp teeth. Some cases of complex mouth ulcers are caused by an underlying health condition, such as an impaired immune system; nutritional problems. Pain from a mouth ulcer generally lessens in a few days and the sores usually heal without treatment in about a week or two, However, If an ulcer lasts more than 3 weeks you should always ask your dental team or doctor for advice. If sores are large, painful or persistent, your dentist may prescribe an antimicrobial mouth rinse,or a prescription or non-prescription solution to reduce the pain and irritation. Good dental hygiene can reduce their frequency or the occurrence of mouth ulcer. Also avoid foods that irritate your mouth, including acidic or foods with too much spice on it.
