Today is St Valentine's day. It is the day people show love and affection to one another such as giving them cards, flowers, gifts and other things. It has it's root in ancient Rome and is dated back the fifth century It is an annual holiday that is celebrated on February 14 to commemorate the death of Saint Valentine who defied Emperor Claudius II of Rome. Claudius had banned
marriage because he viewed it as a distraction to the young soldiers. Valentine felt
a bit differently and went on joining couples illegally until he was caught.
After he was sentenced to his death, young couples would visit his cell
and give him flowers and cards. The color of Valentine is red symbolizing the heart of love. Valentine's day cerebration has attained the most popularity apart from the period of Christmas. Sunday 14 February 2016
