>>>>>>>>Zika virus is rapidly spreading across the continent with thousands of babies already affected in Brazil and Global health officials are worried about how rapid this virus spread in the Americas, saying that it could infect up t 4million people.
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) said Aedes mosquitoes are
found in all countries in the Americas except Canada and continental
Chile, and the virus will likely reach all countries and territories of
the region where Aedes mosquitoes are found. The case of Zika has also been recorded in Trinidad and Tobago, according to the
country's health ministry.
A Trinidad-based Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) confirmed the case after testing a blood sample from a 61-year-old woman.
Zika virus is transmitted to people through the bite of infected female
Aedes mosquitoes, the same type of mosquito that spreads dengue,
chikungunya and yellow fever.
It has been associated with severe birth defects in babies causing unusually small heads and brain damage in newborns.
Zika has no vaccine and experts are battling serious to come up with one.
